Mochi~

My first attempt on mochi making was a far cry from the beautiful and lovely mango mochi by "Do What I Like". There's definitely lots of room for improvement!

Home Cooked Dinner~

After a lunch out session this afternoon, we decided to have a cosy home cooked dinner. i volunteered to prepare dinner...And...... Tah dah~ Check out what we had for dinner -->
~*Steamed Tofu*~
Tofu topped with a special marinate sauce*~

~*Steamed Broccoli*~
Healthy greens without cooking oil just drizzled with some special sauce :p... hehe

~*Grilled Giant Oyster Mushrooms*~
Oven-grilled mushrooms with sesame oil and black sesame seeds with special marinate sauce.

~*Stir-fried Lean Pork with Capsicums*~
i seasoned the pork with oyster sauce, pepper, chilli pepper, sesame oil, dark soya sauce and corn flour for about an hour before stir-fried with fresh capsicums, onions and garlic in olive oil. The pork was tender and sufficiently marinated (phew~)

What was in the special sauce?

Ans: Oyster sauce, dark soya sauce, chilli pepper, black sesame seeds, five spice powder, ground ginger and some hot water~

Shokudo III~

Happy Labour Day~ A lunch out session with my parents at Shokudo, Raffles City~ Here are some pictures of the food we ordered...
~*Pork Katsu Curry Rice*~
Dad enjoyed this satisfying japanese curry rice with pork cutlets~

~*Japanese Fishcake*~
These were good! The carrot bits gave the added crunch in the tasty fishcakes.
~*Seasoned Jellyfish*~
~*Grilled Meat Skewers*~
Tender and well marinated beef (left). Juicy and tender chicken (right).

i forgot to take a picture of the salmon katsu that mum had. It was a deep-fried breaded salmon served with fresh greens, mayonnaise and cabbage shreds. :p

Baikohken~

The Baikohken ramen place along north canal road serves wonderful authentic Japanese ramen. It takes about a short 7 minutes walk from Raffles place MRT station control to get to the place. Their friendly and hospitable service will definitely make your dining experience an enjoyable one. The place can get rather crowded during lunch and dinner time.
~*Miso Vegetable Ramen (half serving @ $11+)*~
Tasty soup, "Q" texture of the ramen and large serving of cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots and green onions...mmm...mmm~ i'd suggest you opt for the half serving portion unless you're a big eater. They also serve a complimentary jug of iced japanese tea to go with the ramen.
Thanx ZC for recommending Baikohken :)

Ice Monster (Plaza Singapura)~

The weather has been extremely hot and humid for the past few days, which made me craved for a nice chilled bowl of iced dessert to cool down.

~*Mixed Fruits with Mango Sherbet (small: $6.50)*~
i was alittle disappointed with the serving of sourish fruits coated with sweet. The ice manage to cool me down alittle but my taste buds were left dissatisfied.

Homecook Lunch~

~*Tofu Miso Soup*~
Instant miso soup, just empty the paste and freeze dried garnishings into a bowl, add 2/3 cup water and mix well.
~*Spaghetti*~
Spaghetti stir-fried with green, yellow and red capsicum, button mushrooms and king oyster/trumpet mushrooms with olive oil, tomato paste and a'lil chilli sauce~
~*Grilled King Oyster/Trumpet Mushrooms*~
i love the smooth texture and crunchy mouth-fill of the grilled eryngii mushrooms topped with a special homemade sauce mixture (oyster sauce, dark red dates soya sauce, chilli pepper, honey mustard, mixed spices and black sesame seeds). Another way to enjoy the eryngii mushrooms is to coat them with flour, deep-fry and add your favourite seasoning or spices.

Kenny Rogers Roasters@ Suntec~

This was my first visit to Kenny Rogers at suntec fountain terrace after they revamped.
~*Roast Chicken Salad*~
i was overwhelmed by the huge amount of roasted chicken shreds. It was large enough to serve 2 to 3 people... The iceberg lettuce were fresh and green, together with shredded carrots, fresh onion rings, tomato wedges, olives and a muffin.
~*Kenny's Quarters*~
A quarter chicken, 2 sides and a muffin. Hmmm... is it me, or has size of the chicken shrunk? Probably it all went to the roast chicken salad :x
