Ang Ku Kueh~

i've been craving for ang ku kueh recently, so i went online to search for the best ang ku kueh stalls in singapore. i managed to savour the ang ku kuehs from 4 different stalls.

1. Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh (Tiong Bahru Food Centre)
2. Poh Cheu (Bukit Merah Lane 1)
3. Kuehs And Snacks (Bukit Merah Lane 1/Alexandra Village)
4. Bangawan Solo

~*Ang Ku Kuehs*~

Left: Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh

• Red: Green bean (mungbean)
• Grey: Salty green bean
• Orange: Peanut

Right: Poh Cheu (not much of a colour difference between the 2 types of filling )

• Orange- Red: Green bean
• Red: Peanut

Verdict:

My favourite stall award goes to Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh! Not only were their ang ku kueh yummie-licious, the stall owner was really friendly too (it made the "ang ku kueh" experience more enjoyeable). The glutinous skin is thin with a generous amount of filling and it's not too sweet. i especially liked the salty mung bean filling ang ku kueh. :p~

2nd would be Poh Cheu. The fillings were good but the glutinous skin was alittle thicker than Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh.

3rd place goes to Bangawan solo, traditional, simple, satisfying but it factory produced.

4th place goes to Kuehs and snacks. Their ang ku kueh prints were all not well-defined (probably because they were steamed for too long) and the filling was very fragrant. Basically, it didn't look appetizing at all...

The ang ku kuehs (peanut/green bean/salty green bean filling) costs 50 cents per piece except for bangawan solo's which was priced at 70 cents per piece.

~*Tang Yan*~

Tiong Bahru Food Centre, Sweet Desserts Stall's Glutinous rice balls filled with ground peanuts served in peanut soup. The glutinous rice flour layer was alittle too thick. It was just average. Each bowl of 3 glutinous rice balls costs $2. When it comes to Ah balling, i'd strongly recommend Food Street's (Smith Street) Ah balling~
