Walnut Bubble Rice Cookies~

If you are a fan of cornflakes cookies, you'd definitely like these~

~*Walnut Bubble Rice Cookies*

Crispy, crunchy, simply unstoppable~ i made some changes to the recipe by increasing the bubble rice amount by a third, and left out the decorative walnut halves on top of the cookies.

Click here for the wonderful recipe from Yochana's blog~

Fine lunch~

A fine 3 course lunch special~

Coffee Club (Takashimaya) II~

Surprisingly, the place was not at all crowded during dinner time, and the service was way more pleasant compared to my previous visit to the place for tea...
~*Peach Colada Drink*~
Cool, refreshing and rejuvenating~ The perfect blend with bits of peach :p~

~*Chicken Pie*~
Nicely presented creamy chicken chunks with carrots in puff pastry and a balance serving of greens~
~*Polenta Chicken Bites*~
This dish was a'lil disappointing... some of the chicken bites were overfried, making 'em dehydrated and tough...

Shokudo Part II~

After my so-so dining experience at Shokudo previously, my second visit was definitely more satisfying than the first. And like before, the place was pretty crowded, we had some trouble finding a table...
~*Kimchi @ $2.50++*~
Appetizer~ Other starters include, seasoned octopus, jellyfish, seaweed with vinegar...etc...

~*Tofu Gomu Salad*~
Simple and nicely presented tofu salad with iceberg lettuces, carrots, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and sesame seeds~ i like their self service salad dressing system which allows diners to add their own dressing of their choice from a selection of 4 different sauces.

~*Tuna & Salmon Sashimi*~
i thought it was a'lil steep that the tuna and salmon sashimi costs $6.90 each... the salmon looked dull and unappetizing... thank goodness the tuna looked and tasted much better~

~*Shokudo Chicken & Egg Rice*~
It tasts as good as it looks~ Nicely seasoned chicken with a generous serving of lettuce and a beautifully done runny-yolk egg~ Definitely a must try for first-timers~

~*Teriyaki Chicken with Cheese @*~
It 's hard to miss their eye catching burger set display at the counter. The burger is huge, due to the large burger bread between the juicy teriyaki chicken. Like the tofu salad, chicken & egg rice set, they all costs $6.80++ each.
After the 2nd visit, i concluded that the choice of food do make a difference in the overall dining experience~ So follow your heart...no, i meant follow your stomach! :p

O'Briens Irish Sandwich Bar~

Everytime i pass by the O'Briens at citylink mall, i'll always tell myself, "Gotta try out their sandwiches one day...". And yupz~ i finally went to O'briens for dinner. Nope, i didn't try their sandwiches and had their wraps instead :p
~*All Veggie Wrappo @$7.90*~
A cold wrap with their selection of 5 veggies, lettuce, cucumbers, yellow and red pepper, onions, tomatoes and a'lil honey mustard sauce.
~*Tandoori Chicken Wrap*~
A warm wrap with tandoori chicken, onions, cucumbers, tonatoes and a'lil honey mustard sauce.
After all the hype about O'briens, sad to say, i still prefer Subways over O'briens. Why? 'Coz Subs has a wider selection of veggies, tastes better and less costly~ :p

Earle Swensen's II~

14th feb~ HaPpY VaLeNtIne's and FrIeNdShIp day to one and all~
Part I: Lunch at Earle Swensen's at Vivocity~ We went for the lunch set, which consisted of the main course, buffet salad bar, tea/coffee and a single scoop ice cream of your choice.
~*Salad*~
~*Earle's Mixed Grill*~
Grilled chicken breast, sausage, dory fish served with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables~
~*Dory Fillet*~
The dory lacked flavour and was alittle bland...
~*Ice-cream*~
Strawberry, macadamian nut, mocha almond fudge~
~*Coffee, tea or...*~
Dilmah tea, anyone?
Part II: Birthday cake cutting time~

~*Bengawan solo Fruitcake*~
It was alittle too sweet... hmmm... if only i had time to bake...

Happy Birthday and valentine's day, dad~

YuSheng No. 4~

We were surprised to find that both NTUC and Prime ran out of Yu sheng on the 5th day of CNY. Luckily, Dad managed to get it from Sheng Siong supermarket the next morning before it was all sold out. Nevertheless, this was my 4th yusheng, we had it on ren ri (7th day of CNY)~ and i'm loving it :p~

Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar~

i learnt about Shokudo after reading a newspaper review on it. Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar dining concept is similar to that of Marche and The Vila'ge. Being an ardent fan of The Vila'ge that closed down recently, i was really eager to try out the new place.
We were greeted by friendly staffs at the entrance and issued electronic cards that were used to make our orders and a puck-like reservation marker to reserve the table of our choice.
i was amazed by their wide variety of food choices ranging from fresh japanese salads, sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, grilled selections, tempuras, ramens, pizzas, burgers, soups, rosti, hotpots, pastas, omelettes, sobas, udons, rice bowls, crepes, desserts...etc... i was simply spoilt for choice and would strongly suggest first time diners to take your time to survey what each counter had to offer before placing your orders. It takes at least 5 to 15 mins before the food is ready, so plan your orders carefully to minimise the waiting time for collection.
~*Order Card*~
~*Reservation Marker*~
Don't you think it looks like an ice hockey puck?
~*Assorted Vegetables @$4++*~
Teppanyaki style~
~*Grilled Selection*~
1. Mushrooms 2. Scallops 3. Quail eggs wrapped with bacon
i enjoyed the flavour and mouth-feel of the scallop grill. Price varies between the respective selections
~*Shabu Shabu @ $8.80++*~
The soup was blend and the beef slice was not marinated and lacked flavour...disappointing
~*Edamame*~
The pods were over cooked and the beans lacked taste...
~*Seafood Pizza*~
i thoroughly enjoyed this well flavoured cardboard thin pizza topped with tuna, shrimps, squid and a thin layer of cheese. It's crisp and doesn't have that overpowering rich cheesy feel. There are also 4 other flavours available~
~*Red bean and Mochi with Ice cream*~
3/4 of the dessert bowl was filled with slush ice before adding a thin layer of red bean, 5 nicely arranged mochis and a scoop of japanese green tea ice cream. Nice presentation but... lacked the goodness of Azabu Sabo's version of this dessert.
Overall it was a relatively pleasant dining experience except there was certainly room for improvement with respect to the flavours and tastes for some dishes and the positioning of the queue areas. 1 visit is definitely not enough to try out every dish... :p
Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar is located at Raffles City Shopping Center Basement 1.

YuSheng No.3~

We couldn't resist the temptation for another yusheng session~
~*Before*~
We added our more carrot shreds, it gives the extra crunch and colour~ (Serving size: 10)

~*After*~
Just look at the vibrant colours~

n.y.d.c @ Heeren~

My first visit to n.y.d.c this year~
~*Farmboy Salad*~
A wonderful combination of iceberg salad with roasted chicken shreds, sliced almonds, carrots, cucmbers and croutons with a hint of garlic spice.
~*Mushroom Soup*~
Rich and creamy soup with lots of chunky mushrooms~
~*Mushroom Madness*~
Thin pizza topped with mushrooms in creamy sauce and mozzarella cheese~
~*Lemon Shiver*~
Cool and refreshing~
Good service, good food and good location~

YuSheng No.2~

My second Yusheng for this CNY~ This was how it was before the tossing session. Look at the enormous serving of veggies, crackers, abalone, jellyfish and salmon...

Looking forward for Yusheng No.3 :p~

CNY Reunion Dinner~

Happy New Year! It has been a tradition to have steamboat for reunion, however this year, we decided to have alittle change~ and here it is~ reunion "steamboat" dinner without the steamboat!
~*Yusheng*~
My favourite dish! Yusheng with sliced salmon and abalone :p~
~*Seasoned Jelly Fish*~
Appetiser, anyone?
~*Seafood Platter*~
~*The Balls*~
Fuzhou fishballs, lobster balls and mushroom meatballs*~
~*Tasty Fishmaw Soup*~
~*Wine of the Night*~
Hmmm, white wine would have been a better choice. Nevertheless, this Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon is good~
~*White Fungus, Beancurd Skin, Gingko, Soyabean Dessert*~
A CNY tradition. Every CNY morning, my dad will prepare this for breakfast~
Okiez dokiez! That's all for now~ Gotta roll off to do CNY visiting~ Have a Happy and Healthy New Year! :)

TCC (Citylink Mall)~

When it comes to The Coffee Connoisseur (TCC), the first thing that comes to my mind is their service excellence. Hence, there's is always a certain expectWation whenever i patronise a TCC outlet. The friendly and articulate waiters at the Citylink Mall outlet made my dining experience a really pleasant one.
~*Iced Passion Fruit Tea*~
~*Smoked Salmon Pistachios Salad*~
~*Seafood Aglio Olio*~
The flavour's mmm~ good mix of herbs, olive oils and it's nicely presented.

Wolf Blass Gold Label Riesling (2007)~

~*Wolf Blass Gold Label Riesling (2007)-Australian*~
Hee... my amateur comments: It's a relatively enjoyable wine... i liked the initial fruity taste but didn't quite fancy the after taste.

Homecook food~

Finally! A simple homecook lunch~ For me, nothing beats a simple meal at home. What 'bout you?
~*Stir-fried Pork Cabbage*~
Comfort food? This could also be a simple 1 dish meal too.
Ingredient: Fresh pork loin cubes, sliced cabbage and shitake mushrooms, chopped garlic and shallots.
Seasoning: Oyster sauce, dark soya sauce with red dates, pepper and sesame oil.
~*Cauliflower, Four Seasons Beans and Carrots*~
Oops! The vegetable were alittle over cooked...
