Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar~

i learnt about Shokudo after reading a newspaper review on it. Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar dining concept is similar to that of Marche and The Vila'ge. Being an ardent fan of The Vila'ge that closed down recently, i was really eager to try out the new place.
We were greeted by friendly staffs at the entrance and issued electronic cards that were used to make our orders and a puck-like reservation marker to reserve the table of our choice.
i was amazed by their wide variety of food choices ranging from fresh japanese salads, sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, grilled selections, tempuras, ramens, pizzas, burgers, soups, rosti, hotpots, pastas, omelettes, sobas, udons, rice bowls, crepes, desserts...etc... i was simply spoilt for choice and would strongly suggest first time diners to take your time to survey what each counter had to offer before placing your orders. It takes at least 5 to 15 mins before the food is ready, so plan your orders carefully to minimise the waiting time for collection.

Don't you think it looks like an ice hockey puck?
~*Assorted Vegetables @$4++*~
Teppanyaki style~
~*Grilled Selection*~
1. Mushrooms 2. Scallops 3. Quail eggs wrapped with bacon
i enjoyed the flavour and mouth-feel of the scallop grill. Price varies between the respective selections
~*Shabu Shabu @ $8.80++*~
The soup was blend and the beef slice was not marinated and lacked flavour...disappointing
~*Edamame*~
The pods were over cooked and the beans lacked taste...
~*Seafood Pizza*~
i thoroughly enjoyed this well flavoured cardboard thin pizza topped with tuna, shrimps, squid and a thin layer of cheese. It's crisp and doesn't have that overpowering rich cheesy feel. There are also 4 other flavours available~
~*Red bean and Mochi with Ice cream*~
3/4 of the dessert bowl was filled with slush ice before adding a thin layer of red bean, 5 nicely arranged mochis and a scoop of japanese green tea ice cream. Nice presentation but... lacked the goodness of Azabu Sabo's version of this dessert.
Overall it was a relatively pleasant dining experience except there was certainly room for improvement with respect to the flavours and tastes for some dishes and the positioning of the queue areas. 1 visit is definitely not enough to try out every dish... :p
Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar is located at Raffles City Shopping Center Basement 1.
