'Tix the season to be jolly~ lalala~lalala~
It's that time of the year again, a time to be merry, a time of sharing and giving~ Yupz, x'mas is round the corner. In sg, it's a festive season that is celebrated by many, regardless of race, religion and age, with gift exchange, good food and x'mas treats! :)
This is my first x'mas baking treat for the year. Check them out~
~*Gingerbread Trees*~
i was suppose to decorate 'em with icing sugar, but erh... i was pressed for time, hence, had to skip the icing...
Recipe:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/2 cup fine brown sugar
- 1/2 caramel syrup
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp mixed spice powder
Method
- Blend margarine with sugar, caramel and egg yolk till smooth.
- Add in sifted flour, baking powder, bicarbonate soda followed by the rest of the ingredients and mix into a dough. Refrigerate the dough for an hour.
- Preheat oven at 160 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Roll out the chilled dough into 1/4 inch thickness and cut out desired shape with a cookie cutter (e.g. x'mas tree, gingerbread man...etc) and place them on the baking tray.
- Bake at 160 degrees for 9 mins, followed by another 2 mins at 170 degrees. Remove cookies from oven and cool them on a cooling rack before serving or decorating with icing sugar.
